Blue Light

"Is this real?" She looked at his dark blue eyes, her hand barely touching his.
"Because it feels real.." Her eyes searched his face for any sign of emotion, anything that can give away what he was feeling.
He looked at her, his face stoic. It took so much effort for him to stop himself from giving anything away, from showing her how he feels. He gave the small hints, the alternative meanings, but there she stood, batting her eyes lashes, with confusion on her face.
How could she not know?
How could she not feel what he feels? Just by the slight touch of his fingertips...
"You're a hard book to read..you know that?" She said, her hand moved away from his and it took all his will power to stop himself from grabbing her hand back and interlocking it with his.
His ash blond hair ruffled by the wind, and his scent danced around her body. She took a deep breath, taking it all in, never wanting to forget.
"I know I shouldn't feel what I'm feeling, but it's hard not to, when I'm with you." She says, feeling like she's talking to the air.
He stood there, watching her. He gazed at her olive colored skin tone, her dark long hair, her petite figure. Everything about her was perfect, her flaws was what made him love her.
But he could never admit that to her. The word love was too strong and even though he didn't want to admit it to himself, love also scared him.
"All I know, is that I'm falling for you. I might be falling..in love with you." She said carefully and slowly. She searched his face for any emotion from the words that spilled out of her mouth.
His heart pounded furiously in his chest, he turned around, unable to face her. He felt her hand touch his back gently, but he dared not move. He dared not show the raw emotion of love he felt for her too.
Instead he whispered quietly, enough for her and for her only to hear.
"This is wrong."
He felt her hand stiffen slightly on his back.
"What is wrong..what I feel? Or Us." She whispered back.
"Both."
He stood there for countless minutes, unable to turn around and face her, afraid to see the pain on her face. He stood there looking towards the horizon, watching the sun set. He began to think to himself, wondering why it was so wrong. Why two people couldn't be together because of reasons that they are unable to control. He grew angry at the thought of someone taking her away from him, the thought of losing her because of his selfish thoughts. He was going to tell her that he loved her and that whatever happens will happen.
He noticed that he no longer felt a hand on his back. He slowly turned around.
She was gone. He blinked several times and looked around for any sight of her. But it was too late.
The brightest color of blue blinded his eyes as he watched it draw nearer to him, toward the center of his chest. It hovered there briefly, and went right through him. He turned around and watched it disappear.
The bluest light he has ever seen.
He'll never forget her.
